The Largest Collection of NFT Avatars by Reddit
Reddit has dropped an extensive assortment of Collectible Avatars, making it one of the biggest collections of its kind released by the platform so far. Each avatar, known as a “Snoo,” is priced at $25 and limited to 500 per NFL team.
Continuing the Tradition of NFL-Themed Avatars
Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs may already be familiar with NFL-themed avatars. Reddit previously released a free set of avatars during the championship game last February, and this new collection follows that tradition.
The avatars will add another layer of excitement to the online game day discussions happening on Reddit. Fans can proudly represent their favorite teams in various community threads, such as r/NFL or r/NFCEastMemeWar.
Reddit also provides insights into the popularity of each team’s collectibles. As of now, the New England Patriots have the highest number of purchased NFT avatars, followed by the Chiefs and Eagles. On the other hand, only five avatars each have been bought for the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts.
Reddit Expanding into NFTs
Last summer, Reddit first ventured into the world of NFTs by choosing Polygon, an Ethereum scaling network, as its network of choice. It has since released several collections of digital collectibles, resulting in a total of 22 million minted avatars held by 18 million unique holders according to Dune, a crypto analytics platform.
This connection between sports fans and digital assets has been well-documented. A survey conducted by Seton Hall University revealed that sports fans are twice as likely to own Bitcoin, Ethereum, or NFTs.
The NFT avatars offered by Reddit are stored in users’ Vaults, which are digital wallets within the Reddit mobile app. These Vaults also hold other crypto features, such as community-specific tokens.
